so i went on a camping trip this weekend and we had a terrible thunderstorm while i was out there last night. we got rained on all night and had to fight the tent from flying away and getting ripped to shreds. came home around 2 hours ago and found that my house has had no electricity and it must have been atleast one day cause the freezer was thawed out. went downstairs to my room and there you have it. everything completely turned off in my fishtank. corals all drooping and fish nowhere to be seen. stomatello snails covering the glass. the power happens to turn back on about 30 mins later and im making adjustments and trying to see whats up. the fish all looked dead laying on there sides and breathing real fast. after everything settled, i put some food in and no response. about 2 min later the fish all came around and started eating and swimming. Im patiently waiting to see how everthing makes it out right now.

I've had this happen before and once everything was back up and running everything turned out alright. I wouldn't worry too much, gl.

Yikes! I was worried about something like that, so I bought one of those battery-powered air pumps with an airstone. It plugs into the wall socket, and as long as it detects AC current, it is off. But if power ever cuts out to your electrical outlet, it turns on the battery-powered air pump. This will keep your water oxygenated during a power-out (assuming the power-out only lasts a few hours). Might be something to consider.

Hope everything works out this time around,
