    PETCO response short lived

    Well - the PETCO quick response may have been a farce. In response to their request, I repacked the aquarium and sent them an email stating that it was ready for pick up, and if they could ship me a new tank this week, to do so, else credit my account. Followed up with another email asking what the status was - NO response from either email, and the aquarium still has not been picked up.

    Two thumbs down for PETCO on this. The absence of a yes or no on delivery of a replacement is worse than never responding to my original email. :angry:

    If I haven't heard by tomorrow, I'll be filing a dispute with my credit card company.

    Things are starting to arrive

    Received my:

    • Ecoxotic Panorama 12W 8000K/453nm Blue LED Module w/ Transformer.
    • Plumbing for the fuge.
    • Additional sand (another 45lbs)
    • Seachem Reef Salt for the big fill.
    Opened the tubs where the dry rock is curing - I was right, it is real stinky right now.

    I'm also aging my new Protein Skimmer in some water from my last water change. I read somewhere that the break in period for the Marineland Skimmers is several weeks, not the short time they advertise. Want those micro-bubbles gone before I install in the sump.

    I forgot to order additional filters for the RO/DI - I'll see how it looks the week before.

    According to the schedule I have, my new aquarium should be arriving on Wednesday the 23rd. Works out great in that I can give it a week full of water for the leak test and move it into the house over the 4th of July holiday weekend.

    I was right - the quick response was a farce. I followed up yesterday with a phone call, and they had totally ignored our correspondence. When I ask if they could have a replacement by Friday - without even checking, the customer service rep stated no. AND they couldn't schedule a pick up until Friday. In the meantime, I had found a form that would let me return the unit to my local PETCO store. I advised them not to schedule a pickup, that I would be returning it to my local store for the credit. By the way, the manager at the local store handled the return in a professional manner, and apologized for my inconvenience. Something the on-line customer service rep never did.

    So my advise is to avoid PETCO on line ordering.

    The on-line rep can avoid contact with you entirely . The local manager can't. That's why you got different responses.

    Looks good I am here to watch I don't really care for petco either unless it is a store bought purchase.

    Bulk Reef Supply returned my email first thing this AM - They will be sending me new bulbs right away. Now that's what customer service should be :kiss:

    I've had really good success with BRS, they have great customer service. Sorry to hear about your other troubles. Good luck with the build.
