Gotta say I am very happy with my Odyssea also. I do recoment changing out the bulbs, The bulbs that come with it are not the best. But they do the job for hardy corals. or FO or such. I replaced one Blue actinic with a day bulb and am changing the MH bulb...

Many hobbyists discourage the use of the odyssea brand because of its reputation. Odyssea brand IMO is great for what it's worth. It fits in everyone's budget. Like Johnny said, change the bulbs. The MH in particular and you should be fine. I ordered mine recently. Haven't gotten it as yet because of my location. I ordered the 500W, 48" fixture.

    I just got my 48" set ( 2X 250W DE, 4X54W T5). $329 shipped from aquatraders.com

I'm impressed for the money so far. Even if I replace the ballast, and bulbs. I'm still ahead of the game from a finacial stand point.

Mine did come with true actinic bulbs, not the "blue" bulbs mentioned by others.

So I hear that alot of people recommend changing out the stock Odyssea bulbs. What brand do you change them out for? Or do you change them out for a different spectrum Odyssea bulb? I'm getting ready to order replacement bulbs for my coralife aqualight power compact fixture and am seriously considering the Odyssea brand bulbs from ebay. Unless anyone can shed some light on their light bulb quality I'm going to go with them. Also what spectrum should I use for the 4x65 watt fixture I have. I have a 90 gallon and using 2x150w MH(10k and 14K) already. I'm wanting to grow zoos, monti, candycanes, favias, etc...so some stonies and sps for beginners. Thanks for any advice you can give.

I have used and currently using Odyssea 20k bulbs and my corals are growing nicely. But I also changed out the stock ballasts for some IceCap's. I do replace the Odyssea bulbs more frequently than I would with better quality ones.
