    bacteria eat the biodegradeable plastics, and use nitrate and phosphate to grow. you don't replace it so much as top it off as the bacteria eats more of it.

    phosban sucks up phosphate like a sponge, and is used up alot faster(probably around 10x) then the plastics, but it can suck up phosphate alot faster also, so fast it can even shock and harm your corals..

    pellets are to be used in combo with a skimmer.

    So the pelets are the way to go. I have a hair algae prolem and i am adding the reactor to hopefully rid the tank of this problem. I just am unshure what product will help me the best and be the best for my reef.

    In my opinion pellets are better for a long term solution, but rowaphos would probably be more aggressive way to combat the hair algae.

    Carbon does it's own thing and should be run on a reef regardless.

    Should this be used in a reactor or is this the yype that needs to be place in a bag?

    rowaphos this stuff is awesome i have used it and i just tossed it in my reactorand had a gental tumble. Same thing with chemi pure

    pellets really need to be in a reactor.
