Hey everyone. Today I was playing with my tank and when I was leaning close taking a look inside I thought I heard something so I decided to put my ear up to the tank and I can hear the vibration from the return pump. I was just wondering if anyone has ha this issue before? Could this potentially be bad for the inhabitants. Everyone has been in there for months and no signs of stress. I just heard this and now I'm curious. One of my return lines does u over the back of the tank and go inside and I think this could be causing it. I will look into a fix but just want to know from others

I hear mine also. But no one seems affected.

Same here. But now my reefing OCD has kicked in and I can't stop thinking of it. I am going to try alleviate the issue.
    Thanks

Two threads and still no tank shots? Welcome to 3reef but we have a tiny addiction to pictures... ok maybe not so tiny.

If you hold the pictures of my tank up to your ear you can hear what I am talking about in this thread.

if it's plumbed into a hardline like most are, it's simply amplifying what little vibration there is. No real way to get around it. Also, unless you can hear it from a foot away, I wouldn't worry about it.

That makes sense. I do agree. The thing is, now that I know that it's there it will bother me more and more if I don't try. I haven't done anything to my tank in a few days and I have an itch to do something.
    Really appreciate the advise.

Has anyone else listened to their tank lately. (I know, sounds odd) is there anyone's tank that is silent? Just curious.

I always recommend a short piece of reinforced vinyl tubing right off the pump even if you are using PVC to releiev any stress from misalignment and break up vibration.

    This.

You could also try to alieviate vibration by simply placing the pump on some silicone padding.

That would definitely alleviate some of the vibration. That is a great idea and I will look into doing that. Thank you for the great advise.
