noise fromPM Bullet skimmers

Did you snap it clean off??? Don't get discouraged if it skims flat for a couple days. I hope you got a skimmate container for it to drain in because once it starts it will pull about 2g to 4g of nasty crap out in a couple weeks.

 

It is skimming flat right now. I did snap it clan off but I repaired it just a bit ago. I have the skimmer running and seems to be starting off good just flat. I have heard that it does im just hoping that it doesent just go nuts. I bought the large collection cup for it so I have that to collet the gunk. After my last skimmer exploding everywhere I decided this is best since it shuts off when full. I hope the gunk starts skimming though looks like this thing cranks. I think it is a great product and seems to be built extreamly well.

 

It will look like molasses before long.

 

Well just an update. Its pulling mad skimate right now. I have the collection cup and I emptied it today. I tried to offer it to the wife but she almost puked when she smelled it haha. the hiss from the skimmer is kinda loud but only when i have my head in the cabinet. I must say wow what a good skimmer otherwise. I dont hear much. Great skimmer and I wouldent pick anything else.

 

I have my ozone pulling 10cfm through the port so I don't hear much noise from the air muffler. I have so much other stuff in the fish room running that I don't think I could hear it anyway.

 

did the ozone make a big difference? I think I might get one. When dealing with pm they told me it makes a difference. How do you like it? Worth the money?

 

I love what it has done to the water quality. Almost looks like the fish are floating in space and not water. I would recommend a ORP controller, don't just stick a O3 generator on without controlling it.

 

was just telling Bogie the other week we are planing his new tank now he is getting a bullet from us and I told him I'd make more money if I sold him a Bullet 2 for his 157 But all he would need is a bullet 1 .

A B/1 will run away with up to 200 gals of water on a 1/2 maintained reef tank with some fish and I'd not put a B/2 on anything under 250 gals and thats with a heavy loaf of fish Like with Otty when we where getting him his I told him a B/2 would do a good Job But he knew he was going to keep some larger tangs so then It was needed at some point his actually now is not working all that hard like a semi Petterbuilt pulling a John boat.

Look you will never see a skimmer of this caliber foaming all the time they go flat if there is nothing to cause any surface tension.. LFS have a much higher demand placed on their skimmers then a Home aquarium would. As
for cleaning I dump collection container as needed rinse and flush the cup every 4 or 5 weeks I washout the raise tubes once or twice a yr cleaning a skimmer too often is not a good idea .

The main air-inlet to the injector is what you cleaned and thats because of salt or lint and dust . To set a Bullet simply cut off all air allow the water level to rise about 1/2 inch above the base up into the riser tube if pump is to weak then adjust the gate valve to raise the level to the 1/2" then open that Blue valve to about 2 or 3 O Clock or 9 or 10 O clock depending on how you put it together allow it to run a few days and never open that blue valve much past 4 O'Clock if its ever pass there to wide open then you have a issue with a fouled injector some trash maybe ? Everytime you adjust somthing to make the skimmer do what there is nothing for it to do you are back to square one..These type skimmers are in a leauge of there own and can't be adjusted or comparied to a lesser grade of skimmer .
Once you ge that water line set at 1/2" and a max of 3/4" and then tewak that blue valve thats about all you can do they will go flat and start ass needed .

 

Remember all that bad stuff you had read about 03 carbon and a controller is the Key. Need a nice tang LOL give that skimmer somthing to do

 

Sure has made the water look really nice. I'm glad I got it.

That was someone on RC that didn't know how to use one and the rest just followed along. I will probably always run a tank with one now.
