So i got my Firefish gobys in yesterday, one was doing great! Been out and about since i put him in no problamo~ But the other one was pretty stressed and was laying on bottom til today. He is out and about and doing well other than the fact that the other goby is tearing him to shreads! The goby that has been so great is biting his fins off like crazy. The poor thing has no sail, and all kinds of tears in his lower fins. Any suggestions other than quaranteen?

I would actually quarantine the firefish that's doing the biting, not the one getting bitten. that one doesn't need any more stress.

I would use a breeder net or similar to QT it.

Yeah, they will, as long as it's not being attacked anymore. Once you put them back together, it's likely the fighting will just start again, though.

Try QT'ing the meany for a while then if the other one makes a recovery, return the meany? I doubt your LFS will want to have the one beaten up returned.

Also, how big if your tank?

They will fight unless they are lovers. I bought a "mated" pair and even they fought for a few weeks when new to my aquarium. It was pretty bad, but eventually they stopped and now they get along fine. The meanie just had to establish his dominance. You can either wait it out - unless it is really horrible, and in that case either return the mean one to the LFS, or QT it for awhile.
