nitrate

    i have a 5ft by 2ft 15inch wide tank with 2 external filters with rings carbon sponge coral gravel ect in them approx 20kilo live rock in the tank the fish and corals are fine but i cant get nitrate below 50ppm nitrite and amonia are zero my anemone crab blood shrimp and pepermint shrimp all went to big fish tank in the sky lol tank is 5 months old anyone help?

    What type of media do you run in those canisters?

    You have to either chemically bind up and remove the nitrates like a Phosphate reactor does or Biologically grow the needed anaerobic bacteria to consume them in their own reactor .

    thanks tangster whats the best way ,phosphate reactor ?if so how much and where from ?
