true to that....but , if your so confindent that your control method will always work and never test , a monitor would warn you in advance before problems arise and get out of hand. i would feel better just for the fact of knowing for sure everything was always at zero. would be easier to tweak or correct problem before algae (sps corals) tells you there is a problem.

Our main tank is just under 2 months old and we have not had any issues at all with our tank stats. The only thing that does change is our temp and that is because I like the house "cooler" than normal.. "65 is my comfort zone" ..

My 8g cube is having it's first test today... wish me luck! lol

I know my methoed works have not ever had a deletable level of NO3 in over ??? 30 yrs same as today . I look at my little coil drops every so often and If I see drops I know I have no nitrates and if I don't see drops I just open the control valve a little but if it say off a week or more there would be no NO3's In that short or time..

    Useless Junk

I bought this "monitor" in April 2012. It never functioned as advertised nor was it even close to reliable. Measurements differ substantially from one sample over just a few minutes. Manufacturer also fails to disclose that reading needs to be multiplied by 4.4.
When Lou Dell (the owner) asked to correct problems, he attributes every defective product issue to "user error". He also requires purchaser to pay all shipping costs to return the product to him for “further testing”.
I would rate this American Marine product as "expensive junk" just like all other of the Pinpoint products. Just check out the many other reef blogs which rate this product the same.
    Buyer beware!!!
