Well I just want to let everyone know that I won the nitrate battle!
My nitrates were over 200 when I got this tank from someone else...they overfed, and god know what else they didnt do!!!

Well after about 3 weeks of constant water changes every 2 or 3 days with RO/DI water, vacuuming the sand each time its finally down to 5ppm. The only thing I added during the last week was a sack of Seachem Purigen.

I cut back feedings to 2-3 times a week too!

Do you believe it....I got it down from 200 to 5....I am so happy...now I can get on with things and start putting some soft corals in the tank!

I will start another thread about what ones to add!!!

Just wanted to share the good news with all of you and thank everyone for all their help...I posted so many times about them, read and took everyone's advice and it worked out....YOU GUYS ARE THE BEST!!!!!!!!!!

    THANKS!!!

    Thanks to all!!!
I read about that vodka dosing and it just seemed scary to me so I opted for the natural but painful frequent water change approach!
I was so tempted to use things like AZ-NO3, microbactor7, etc...

    Never did though!
