I recently purchased 2 Jebao pumps.. Both have the variable controller and both have the plugs for night sensor. I just can not find a sensor for them..

What night sensor does it use and where can I get one? Neither of my pumps came with one..

    Jay,

that sensor should have been a Teeny Tiny little photocell in a plastic baggie. it is VERY easy to lose. Given that, if you cannot find it, you may be able to buy one someplace. The photocell is a circuit that is OPEN when exposed to light and CLOSED when very dim. When it is 100% dark, it opens back up. (kinda sucks IMO) I have the two of mine connected to one of the photo cells I got. they are located in my stand so I ran some Low voltage wire up to my canopy and then tied it into the photocell. Kinda ghetto but it works perfectly. The wire i used was not the multi strand kind, but a single strand inside the shield. it was the wire for a garage door opener sensors.

I have an extra somewhere... someplace. but you may be able to find one at Home depot. Im thinking about making up one to use with my RKE. so that it will control when they are in night mode. if I get that worked out, Ill let you know and send you my extra sensor.

So do they have special plugs or just a straight wire you push in? Going to see if radio Shack has one.. I probably overlooked and threw away

They do come with them in the small plastic bag along with the peel off sticky strip. They are very very tiny so can get lost easily though when you are unpacking the box. One of mine had come out of the bag and dropped on the floor and war a bear to find.

yea, but shipping is a killer. I am going to test something tonight. I have a solid state relay. 12v on the input side and AC on the switched side. I am thinking I can put a wall wart into a socket on my RKE and then use that to open and close the relay. Ill just connect the two ends of the night circuit to the relay. then for night mode, ill have my RKE kick that plug on and energize the solid state relay. it will close the AC side, but since I dont have power to it, it is just closing that circuit thus entering NIGHT mode on the Jeboa controller. hmmm.. this just might work.

I agree. I tried night mode for the first month or so, ended up removing the sensors and like it better without. I taped them to a piece of cardboard and put them in a drawer so they don't get lost in case I ever decide to use them again.

I took mine out after 5 minutes. The room that the tank is in is always dark, so it will always be on night mode.
