so my tank is about 4 months old. 44 gal corner tank. ive had a scooter dragonette and 3 hermits, they all are doing well, no deaths. had them for 2 months.
    my parims are
    ammonia-0
    nitrite-0
    nitrate-10-20ppm
    p.h-8.2
    spec.gravity1.024-1.025
    temp-steady 77-78
is there anything else i should check for to have clown fish(o.clown or
    percula)
    i have no corals yet.
I am stuck on the decision to get 1 or a pair. what do you all think?
MY tank is 44 gal do you think 2 clownfish, scooter dragonette, and 3 hermits would be the limit for this size tank.?
Any info on clownfish would be helpful?(acclimation, water parims...ect)
I have resarched them a lil but everything says pretty much the same thing, i wanna know what your opinions are.
should i do a water change befor i add them to get the nitrate down a lil?

Clowns are fairly hardy fish. I think your good to go. IMO I'd get a pair that way they will bond and pair up. If you add one now and one later it is harder to get them to pair.

get a mated pair if you can, never know, you could get them to spawn.

Mated pair is what I would go with. You never know if a pair will bond. If you are going to add a pair I would get a smaller one and a large one...8)

Mated pair would be nice, however, they probably wouldnt like any other fish in there if you were planning on getting anything else... just what i've been warned about with my 40g. But those typed of clowns aren't too mean so i'm basically asking someone else who might know to let you know :p

perc clowns get along with 99% of the fish in the world probably.damsel angel blennis gobies butterflies everything except probably predators.i cycled my tank with a pair.your good to add them.if you plan on having an anenome if your lfs has a pair that are living with an anenome buy them all together.i wish i would have done the same.but they dont need one to live or be happy.just looks cooler.

you don't need to get a mated Pair. Odds are you'll never find a pair in a store.

the bast way to buy clowns IMO is to wait until your LFS get an order in with a lot of juv Clown fish. (this happens often in big stores). With a lot of Juvs in one small tank it is less likely you will pick a dominant fish. Get 2 that are roughly the same size, small. add them together in your system. (After correct acclimation). Over time the two fish will bond and one will grow considerably larger than the other. This will be the Female
It's a great thing to watch

My experience matches Jason's. Get two small juveniles of same size.

They will squabble until one becomes dominant. Fight can be pretty intense, shredded fins etc. On rare occasion one may kill other. Best you can do is hope for best.

Don't spend extra $ on a so-called mated pair from LFS.

I started with one (clown) for about 6 months then added another. Luckily they paired up within a month or so. Like J said clowns are very hardy....
