Hi, my name is Bob and I am a fish-a-holic. I've been in Freshwater Fish my entire life, thanks Dad, and decided to step up to Saltwater after a lot of success in Fresh. I went and talked to a friend of mine who owns a store and said I wanted to try saltwater and get a 29 gal. biocube. He asked what my ultimate goal was with Saltwater and I said maybe a nice 90 gallon tank, whatever my wife would let me get away with, he said to just go up to a 90 then and he would make sure I got the best possible price on it. I begged my wife for it and her response was to put it outside the fishroom then and get a nice stand and canopy for it. So, I told my friend that and I ended up with a 125 gal. tank set up. I got top of the line (I think) everything with it and started to set it up. After the initial setup and the salt mix, I waited 3 weeks and added the live sand and rock and some damsels to get everything rolling on it. Now, six weeks later, everything seems to have leveled out and things are looking to the fun side finally. I have been reading posts in this forum for a while while I decided to do this and found most of them very encouraging, so I finally decided to join. Thanks to all of you for your insight and trials, they have helped me along in this early stage of saltwater that I am in. Once I have something to look at, I will try and post some pictures. Bob

Thanks for all the greetings, as for upgrades, I am thinking that if I can make this tank work, I can slowly start to convert my freshwater fish/poison dart frog room into a salt/fresh/frog room and try to get some saltwater fish breeding if it is possible. Is it possible to breed them in captivity? Right now I have 25 freshwater tanks, 1 tortoise habitat, 7 dart frog enclosures and 1 saltwater tank. I really like the challenge of breeding different fish and frog species. It is a lot of fun and I hope it is possible to breed some species of saltwater fish in captivity.

it is very possible to raise the fry in captivity, but most are unsuccesfull, mostly due to the time demanding process, raising rottifer (baby brine shrimp) culteres is not an easy job in itself for a beginner.

I already have a brine shrimp hatchery for my freshwater fish, I also have found that golden pearls work well on the smallest fish as an alternative to always hatching brine shrimp. I wonder how they would transfer from fresh to salt. The time aspect of it may be difficult though, but who knows, if I am having fun with it, it will be worth the extra effort
