    here's my short story:
Friend was breaking down his tank. I took some rock. One piece had aiptasia on it and I didn't notice it. Bought some Aiptasia-X or Joe's Joice, whatever it was and turned 6 aiptasia into an epidemic. They are litterally all over now. Probably 50 or so. Then I purchased peppermint shrimp to get rid of them, but they didn't work because my HumaHuma wouldn't let them do their work. I bought berghia next and haven't seen them since I introduced them to the tank after the peppermints were gone. Then i figured I would rent a copperband from my LFS. Since I know the owner fairly well she was alright with the idea. Well the copperband never ate anything. It got ich and died. But before it died it gave ich to my purple tang and it died. Now i'm fighting ich and aiptasia. All because I let 6 of those things into my tank. What a snowball effect. Murphy's law.

Just take the rock out and either scrub with toothbrush or dip in boiling water. Or do both just to make sure it's gone. Just nuke the piece of rock.

Much wisdom had been gained through this charade. That's just how it goes sometimes.

Joes Juice has always worked well for me. I have seen them spread when using Aptaisa-X. However, if you repeat the treatment a day or two latter, they tend not to.

So what if the Aiptasia is living on a rock with coral on it. I wouldn't want to stick that piece of rock into boiling water. That is my issue anyway, but I have on seen two at the most in my tank and was thinking about getting a peppermint shrimp to take care of them form liveaquaria.com. I have read a lot of good reviews about their shrimp.

    Good luck to you.

I had a few pop up recently so I made a paste with ro water and kalkwasser and injected their mouths using a syringe. It's been about 3 months so far and haven't seen any new ones...

I had this same issue, the only thing I could suggest is if you do use the joes juice or the paste both of which I used as well, just use it wait about 20 mins it should start to melt then get a thin tube and syphon the melted bits out. repeat again in 24 hours to try to keep it from spreading...

Is there a down side to peppermint shrimp. Will they bother other stuff in the tank cause it that's the case they will be in the tank tomorrow.
