OKay guys, petco is having crazy clearnce sale. Instant Ocean Marineland 29g salt water starter kit. Now I know its not a good tank with pretty crap filter, not sure about what type of lighting, but its normally priced
$229, but its on sale for $55!! now thats some cheap stuff. My friend wanted to start a salt water tank for his first time, so he bought one, and I bought one, I already own a 29g biocube, but I thought I could use this for QT tank, haha.

Anyway my question is, what lightning does this come with? Do you know if it can support any corals at all? like atleast GPS or leathers or mushrooms? withought needeing mod the lightning system.

Well congrats on the great steal! Do you have the kit out of the packaging? Look under the hood, It is probably either a power compact fixture, or maybe T5/T12(is) bulb combo. Not to familiar with this kit.

I actually have this kit for my FOWLR. Lol. I wish I got around to changing out the equipment. The light is a 2 bulb compact florescent, t8's I believe. Bulbs are 24". You might be able to have some mushrooms, kenya tree, etc. Just low-light corals.

Edit: I didn't see the link at first. I have a different kit. That one looks pretty nice though.:)

oh well, the lighthting your talking about is probably the same thing. Is it a Marineland Eclipse System? If so its the same thing.
Btw in your tank, the lighting is it like white only or is there arctanic lighting as well?

It's only white. Pretty much the most basic lighting. Mine is actually a Tetra. Got it at Pet supplies Plus about 2 yrs ago.

Thanks for your help guys, but do you guys think I can just add a 1 Arctanic light bulb in this system to make it more blue?

What do you mean by adding just another? You could change the light color, but it shouldn't be too big a deal, as it is just a QT. Unless you want to simulate 24hr lighting.

Well the QT, I dont really mind what color it is, but my friend whos starting the fish tank, wants a blue ocean feeling, and I think it comes with 2 white bulbs? so out of those 2, will it be possible to take out 1 and add Arctanic blue light on it?
