because pretty much no matter what there is always die off on live rock in transport and when you mix new rock and new sand it kicks off a cycle, in a smaller tank esspecially can cause the water to become toxic with high amounts of ammonia and nitrites

if you moved down from a 115 to a 24 for less work it was a wrong move, the smaller the tank the harder it is to keep it stable

I wasn't trying to be rude and since it looks like all you have is a pair of clowns they may survive it since their fairly hardy fish assuming their perc or false perc's

Forget additives...let your salt mix take care of needed elements for you.

They can get you into a world of trouble quick in a smaller tank.

Instead, spend $ on more quality salt mix and increase frequency and amount of water changes.

Oh soooo important for any nano....unless you have a relatively large skimmer...

    Good luck.

You will always have a cyle in a marine tank, sorry for the bad news but that is the way it is. Smaller tanks require more attention that the larger ones. If the lack of space is the reason for the downsize goood luck with it. The jbj aquariums are nice tanks but the smaller they are the more attention they require. I personally have a RSM and enjoy it very much, but you have to keep track of the water params. Also the less additives the better. Some are a given but if you don't need them don't use them. With that amount of sand you will probable have a 4-5 inch sand bed. Use a good salt mix like a Instant ocean and get yourself a good skimmer like a Tunze 9002 nano, they work great in small tanks. Hopefully your fish survive. Go slow let it grow

i set up a 24G aquapod, took everything out of a 40G that was over a year old. I still had a 30 day cycle. Die off is a certain. I only had that tank for 3 months, pain in my butt because I had no top and the water evap was out of control in the summer. I did use the aqua c remora for it, that worked good. You should take some of that rock and put it in the back so you don't over crowd your display.Kinda like a mini sump.

Well hopefully they live. I moved down from the 115 because im moving over 1100miles form where i am now. Would have been a major pain to move it all. I wanted to keep the two clowns because I have had them for a lil while and like them. Once everythings together Ill put some pics up for you guys. I also understand that the nanos are less forgiving and im ready for this.

I just wanted to know wha tyou guys tought about for additives. WHen I asked this I guess i was meaning for the corals and inverts food and well being ?

inverts feed off waste, coral feeding depends on the corals, some require no target feeding what so ever, their 100% photosynthetic, others require daily feedings of krill, some will eat your fish if they decide to lay on them, just depends on what you want in there
