Hello everyone. I will be putting together a jbj 24g nano tank. I have ordered 50lbs of live figi sand and 35lbs of live super prem figi rock . I have two clowns and some clean up crew thats going to be going in the tank. I will want to keep some corals and inverts. What do you guys suggest I start reading about for additives to the tank? Also any other advice is greatly appreciated. I will aventually want to keep some kinds of anenome, clams, polys and palys. I know the anenome will move around and can sting but im up for the watching process on this one there. Maybe other lil things to. Not to sure about sps or lps I do like some of them so I might think about it. So in general my main question once again is what should I look into reading to help me be able to keep these kind of things. Thanks guys.

need more info. how big is the tank you are going to use for all the live rock? if I understood right I think you got more rock than what you can use!?! and additives you shouldn't need any but frequent water changes till your tank is so populated that you have the need to use any

Its a JBJ 24 Gallon Nano. I want the sand to be a lil deeper. The 35 is striking the tank with less then 1.5lbs of rock per gallon.

I also plan on getting the HQI hood later on so I can keep the harder to keep stuff. Is the current 72watt pc going to be able to cut it? Thats about 3watts per gallon.

You won't need the main tank lights for the first couple of months while cycling.

I have about 30gallons of salt water from my previous tank I was going to start with. As well the sand i bought is live and the rock is pre cured so im hoping there will be a very small cycle if any. I can't hold the fish I kept out any longer. They have been in a container with heater, air, powerheads, and light for about 3 days. don't want to take the chance of them dieing.

    Copy of original question...

My understanding is that you'll still have a full cycle and that you need it to have a full cycle. Do you have a qt tank that you can keep the fish? You may want to ask the experts around here, but they may be better off in that bucket than in a cycling tank.

well, chances are all the fish you pulled from the setup you sold are basically doomed, you cant just toss in new sand, new rock and just dump in livestock right then and there, if they survive it's more of luck than anything

I have a 24g jbj with around 30# of LR and 20# of sand in it and the livestock does fine, and the anenome has no problems under the 72w of PC's as long as you change the bulbs on schedule

GL with the fish hopefully they pull through but in all reality as far as hardware, take the tank outta the box, setup your sand/rock and fill it

I put in a koralia #1 in the middle of the back wall and pointed it at the front glass, it gets good water movement across the entire tank that way, i use the pump return to do surface disturbance for gas exchange and have a heater in the rear chamber in the pump compartment

Live water, live rock, live sand why would they die in it?
