I just received my new protein skimmer SWC Xtreme 200. I am in the process of a upgrade from 55 gallon to 120 gallon with 40 gallon breeder for sump/refugium. I have a SWC 120 cone for the 55 so i like the brand and the performance. I have experienced that the directions for the skimmers (SWC) are very poor. So I have three questions if anyone can help.

(1.) I have a white bushing piece that is on the inlet side of the pump. Does that piece need to stay in the pump or is this something that is just for shipping? It can be removed very easily. I am worried with power outage it will fall out.

(2.) The assembly page shows the pump inlet facing down toward the bottom of the skimmer. Can this be turned to the side or upward and would that affect the flow/air inlet etc???

(3.) Should there be a stand for the pump? I am thinking it may crack the skimmer body just hanging there.

    Any advice would be appreciated.

The pump just hangs off it is not a problem.

You can rotate the pump, all yo uneed to watch is that you don't kink or lengthen or put to many bends in the air line. You really want that to be nice and straight.

The piece I'm not sure... can you post a pic. I can't remember on the one I played with.... you are not talking about the venturi right?

I looked on the Saltwater Connection website for information and in the accessories i found this. I guess it is the venturi. I did not get second pinwheel with the skimmer. Should there be two pinwheels included? My SWC 120 cone came with extra pinwheel. I was just worried the venturi will fall off the inlet of the pump if I have power failure, sit on the bottom of sump, changing the settings of the skimmer. Here is link to the piece it says what I think you confirmed for me. Thanks.

I don't know first hand but it should snap on or press on. Mine in the past were just fitted on but they were secure.
