I just received my new skimmer and noticed that some people recommend a vinegar bath. Do you just run the skimmer in a vinegar soulution or do you wash the pieces? Also, is there a general ratio of vinegar/water for the solution?
    Thanks in advance for responses.

1/2 cup vinegar to 1 gallon of water. Just let it soak for a couple of hours and rinse it well.

It won't hurt the pumps, I soak mine all the time to clean build up.

You can take things apart and scrub using the very same mixture with an old toothbrush to be a bit more thorough if you wish. Just don't expose any pump holding rubber suction cups to vinegar too long, it distorts them.
