I have a 55 gallon standard with a pair of oc clowns, 2 chromis, and one yellow watchman goby. (as well as some assorted corals) my lfs has ordered me a tiger pistol shrimp which i should recieve today or tomorrow.
Does anyone have any recommendation on getting my goby/shrimp to pair up quickly? i.e.- placing shrimp near gobys burrow...(???) or is this something that will take place quickly and on its own?

If you have a ymg/tiger pistol shrimp pair i would like to hear your input please. how long did they take to pair up, stuff like that.

i am very excited because i find the goby/shrimp symbiotic bond to be fascinating!!

    thanks!!
    JP

PS- i will post pics upon arrival and keep everyone posted on how the bonding process goes!!

From what I have heard it will happen if it happens. But I think placing the shrimp near the burrow is not a bad idea. I have read where it happens quickly to it taking months. Best luck on them pairing up.

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
My tank is small so that probably played a part, but mine paired up in hours and have stayed that way.

Nature works in your favor, they will find each other.

Mine paired up very quickly. The earlier suggestion of placing the shrimp near the burrow of the goby is a great one. That is what I did with mine and I really do think it helped. Good luck. I love watching my pair and its great that they made a burrow on the front side of my tank so I can see all their comings and goings.

Good luck seeing the shrimp again...I put a randall's pistol shrimp and ywg together and they finally found each other I think...as in the goby is finally made a burrow under the same rock where the shrimp landed. BTW my rocks base is on the tank not just the sand...so no squished fishies &they dig under it to thier little hearts' content
I've yet to see the shrimp since introduction a few months ago, but a couple of weeks ago I did see the molt floating around in the tank.

Good luck man! I hope to do that too one of these days. Like what everyone else said, put the shrimp close to the burrow, and be sure to post pics if it-scratch that-when it happens!

I had a pistol shrimp for about 10 days before the YWG. The Goby found the shrimp in its burrow by the next morning and have been together since !
