Does anyone have any first hand experiance with these new models? I am going to be in the market pretty soon and if these have improved the old design I don't see why not to buy one for how inexpensive it is.

    Here is an add:

I have the 65 version. Not too bad. I have it as a HOB right now and the problem I have is I cant get the pump close to the surface. Also Micro bubbles are sometimes an issue. It skims well and is quiet most of the time. I will be putting this in a sump in a few weeks so I can let you know how its acts.

I had the 125 before I believe and it was a good skimmer I had it HOB on my 55 gallon and it pulled out some good stuff. I wonder what it would be like in the sump I think I am going to have to give this one a try unless someone yells stop.

Hopfully with a smaller pump it will be a little bit quiter. From the last one I had it was a little nosiey.

I have read a lot about people saying that they overflow but I don't understand that. I have never had an issue with it overflowing by following the instructions. In fact, I keep the cap half way off and not one issue. As long as the bubbles are dialed to the start of the neck in the cup (dry skimming) you should never have a overflow issue or have to mess with it. I haven't touched mine in months.

I am not saying that it a great skimmer but for the price and what I need it for it works. I don't have any SPS in my tank so I don't see a reason to have an expensive, "great" skimmer. All my params are great.

That is what I am basicly going to be starting with no coral for about a year so maybe this will be a good test run then worst case senrio I can sell for 70 and upgrade to a $500 skimmer when I decided to do coral I am going to go with this skimmer.

Now I just have one other question should I go with the 125 or the 220 it will be on my 90 gallon wave front with a 40 gallon sump which I estimate will put the operating gallons at around 110 or 120.

I have also heard that the 220 is no different just a bigger body?

Also any new reviews on this new verison would still be apprecaited.

That is going to be your call. I have the 65 on a 40b (~35gallons of actual water). Once again, I only want a lite skimming for my tank.

How big of a tank are you setting up?
