This is my freshly cycled Hex 5....just hit the 3 month mark. Not sure how much Ls is have but i've got a good 3.5-4", running 2 uber mini PH's (15 GPH each) on a old wavemaster for some ocilation. Also threw in a duetto 50 intermal filter to remove debris as i just rearranged the rocks a bit. I'll be beefing up the lighting by gutting a coralife mini-pc. this beast will house a small starki damsel, some softies, mini inverts, and some richor/shrooms.

Cool! I like the look of that sand with the black in it!

I love those duetto filters! I got one for my hospital tank and it does a great job! I just bleach the bio filter when done, and toss it back into my sump for instant bio capacity in the QT tank whenever I need it!

How is it working in the nano? Do you have it running full out? It is pretty strong that way in my daughter's 2.5 mini freshwater so I turned it down a bit.

It cleared the tank asap (bout 4 hours it was crystal clear). I have used them alot as well, i love em. I've had a few for about a year now and never had any problems with em. I am probably going to take it out though as i already have alot of water motion in the Hex. But ive used it in the same tank with fresh water, as a grow out tank for mollies.

I want to add an 18 watt PC (the mini coralife type) of Act. for polyps, shrooms and richordia. Also want some long hand Xenia in there. So ill have about 20 watts of Act./gal. and 10 daylight. My zoo's, rich's, and Xen seem to thrive more under Act. than daylight. Also want to experiment with it a bit. I like the tiny tanks as i can get high current and watts/gal without taking out a loan. I was reading a new book (ultimate reef aquariums, new to me at least) and talked to several lifelong reefheads, and im going to experiment with unconventionally high lighting of diff spectrums and water currents. Just got 2 used wavemaster pros (not the best but its what i can afford) and 6 micro PH's.
