    Hey,
I recently perchased a pair of Maroon Clowns, I assume one is male, the bigger darker one, and the smaller one, more brightly colored is female, and they are both happily living in my bubble tip, but anyone know if they will mate, and have lil baby maroons? Supposedly they came from someone who had them together for ahwile and sold them back to my fish guy, so i didnt get to talk the owner about them, and the fish guy didnt know, im just curious if they might hook up.

its hard to tell if they will mate up. but actually u got that backwards the bigger tougher one is the female and the smaller one is the male. with clowns the female is more generally the dominant one in the relationship. with my pair of percs my female is the b**** of the tank.

Alright guys, here's a lamer topic, but I don't want to make any mistakes, so here goes.

Home for my maroon. The first thing that comes to mind is a maroon anemone, i think. However, my tank consists of very limited space (10gal), and equally as limited lighting (2.3watts per gal). So I figure the anemone is out because of the limited space. I realize, that a lighting upgrade is in order. Once this is taken care of, what to get as a home for the maroon?

I know that they will take to certain corals, I have seen one take to a Bubble coral. I've heard that they take to plate corals (long tentacle). Any other suggestions? Please help. Thanks in advanced.

    David,

Those Maroons will wreck havoc on your corals over the long run. - the corals will not survive the constant "attention" of the clowns.

The only anenome they commonly take to are BTA's. (always exceptions)

Thank goodness mine think one of the corner powerheads is home and leave the corals alone.

A BTA on the way for them someday.

    Rgds,

    OmarD

A good healthy leather coral has lower lighting requierments than a BTA, anenome, and is much easier for new aquariasts. They will host a clown and not suffer adversely. I would go that way before getting an anenome.

Entamacea Quadricolor, Bubble Tipped or Bulb Tipped Anenomes have better survival rates than other anenomes and will host a wider varity of clowns. They are still an experts only animal for larger and well estblished tanks.
