New lights!

hey guys i got new T5-HO lights check it out comments please!

 

Congrats, they look great! Is that first coral a sea pen or just a regular leather? Don't see to many pens in the hobby, it looks very nice.

well guys this lighting is kinda a D I Y .......i found a GLO ballast system on clearince 30bucks ( ancient store ancient products) it is an ajustable 54w x 2 .........the bulbs are a cheap brand too i think coral GLO?19 bucks a piece, and the hood is a shoplight hood i bought from wal-mart for 9 bucks i tore out the wiring and ballast i lined the inside with foil and glued it in ( shiny side out) gonna paint the outside black so it matches and i need to hang it from the cealing....or think about it a min and make some kind of stand to get it off my tank......think im gonna go dig around the shed see what i come up with........ill take some pics of the lights .....if anybody wants to look at my handy work

 

moon lighting

hey guys i gota couple of ?'s..........i have been told to get a couple of LED's for moon lighting......my question is does it need to be a specific LED? cause i went to the hard ware store last night and found a 5", 5 LED light bar thati can get 4 of and fit perfect in my hood.......and also i have saw a couple of words like actinic lighting .......i looked at my bulb boxes and couldnt find any of the common words threw around in the lighting fourm the only thing my box said was it is 314 lux fullspectrum coral bulb that "brings out your corals natural and vibrant colors" 54w anyway should i go buy better\different bulbs

 

im pretty sure for moonlighting there just reg blue leds.

 

there are white LEDs too. I personally like white since it's a bit more true to "moonlight"....but like everything it's all just preference
