    Hello 3reefers

I'm not only new to this site I'm also new to the wonderful hobby of marine tanks. A little about me

I live in Toronto Canada and have always had a aquarium but FW. I started small and now I have running my pride and joy a 265gal FW Aquarium. However have just bought a 65 gal marine tank the has been running for the past 6 years at the LFS. They came and installed it at my home and its been up and running for about 4 months. Its a fish and live rock only tank. Today I added a pair of clowns to the tank. I had a yellow and blue tang in there also as well as a dozen or so hermits and a few turbo snails.

I have a fuval canister 404 and a aquaclear little hang on the back job.
A coralife protien skimmer 125g size (completely new for me) hang on back
Two Maxi Jet 1200 power heads
    heater of course
    75 lbs of live rock
    lighting is just fluor tubes

Which brings me to my question....................

The canopy has two lights a white one and a blue one. Should I have two lights the same or is this ok???? Does it matter if the blue light is in the front so the white light is more on the LR (its stacked on the back of tank) or vice versa????? or should I get two new lights if so what would be best for fish color and LR to all be healthy.

    Thanks in Advance......

PS I will post picture of everything in the next couple of days.

    Great to be here!!!!!!!!!!

Welcome to the Reef!! Do you know what the lights are??? T-5, T-8 ?? And Yes you run them together. That is what makes the light look so brilliant. Also the blue is probably actinic. No it does not matter which order they are in.

T-8 will be fine for just fish and rocks. But........It will look alot more brilliant with T-5. Your Coraline Algae will grow in T-8 also. Heck, My coraline seems to grow better in my fuge with a 6500 spiral bulb than in the display. Both grow well though.
