Kill your light cycle to about 1-2 hours a day. Slowly bump up the cycle daily(15-30 mins whatever your personality allows;)) Another large turbo will help tremendously. Turbos are clumsy and strong. So, you might want to return it in the future. While you are patiently watching your light schedule increase and your turbo snail tear after the algea you can look into phosphates/nitrates. What feeds them and what controls them.

Have you got any sort of fuge hooked up? I am with those that said to get rid of the rock. I have read about PO4 getting into rock and leaching out before. You have a chore ahead of you if you decide to keep it.

The base rock idea is great. I don't think you can bleach Phosphates out of the rock. It will kill things, but not remove a substance like PO4 IMO. There is a product called phosphat-E you could buy and perhaps dump a lg bottle of that into a bucket of RO water with the LR in it and see what it does. I am not sure it would penetrate the rock good enough to eradicate that which you need gone though.

    Interesting problem. Good luck.

If you want to continue with the rock in there, I would seriously consider a large fuge with lots of macro-algae. That will eat some of it up.

im sorry what is this Fuge? im thinking about replacing the live rock .. It doesnt look like ordinary LR that i would see its deff. not figi rock .. i will post up some pictures to get a better view. And ive done the starve the hair algee with no light and the turbo ate the algee but its a repetitive thing. if i cant control the phosphates then i will have algee because it acts like a green house right?

If you decide to bleach the rock, beware, there will be death from the rock. From death comes ammonia. When ammonia and bleach mix, nasty things happen....it creates a gas that is dangerous. So make sure your garbage can (or whatever you do this in) is outside and you wear a mask while working with it. Another 3reef member just posted something on this.....from his personal experience.

what kind of light did you get? curing it your self i wouldnt.Pharmrjhon is wright. yes you can put new rock in. i always done it in small amounts. a fuge is a refugium tank. filtration thats plumbed to your tank that normaly sets under your main tank. fish and phos band is what i would use. my sons 180gal. had it to bad he started to use phos band and got 2 fox face rabbit fish, lawnmower bleenie, snail package and, 4 cole tangs along with the other creatures he all ready had. it took about a month and half to be almost gone. every thing ive ever had go wrong in my tanks was fixed with creatures, water changes, lighting change and, changing of currents. take your time and, read. keep on reefing
