update i have just added another 20w 50/50 and i was wondering about what i could get away with coral wise. total 40w PC and then the 240 lumen mr16s. i just want to be safe as far as not buying something that will be too hard when i really start looking.

i dont wanna be a debbie downer, but i have a salty fluval edge and i did the same thing you did about a year ago, did the mr leds, did the 50/50 bulb, did the 2 50/50 with additional leds. Honestly in the end you just end up buying a par bulb or making a custom fixture. It ends up not being enough lighting and you end up being pissed you spend the cash on the mr's and the 50/50 bulbs and my additional supplements. There's a thread somewhere of my set up and you can progressively see the change in lighting haha.

Anyway best wishes! its a neat tank, i love mine, its been happily growing sps, lps and softies for over a year now dont listen to the naysayers that say this tank can't be a reef. Its doable just requires alittle extra effort :)

do you still have yours setup and do you have pics with the par light on there? im looking at the ecoxotic par 38 with 6b-4w-2r and hanging it right over top. about 18" from surface.

sounds good, i was gonna say i think a boost led par30 would actually fit in the little hood. but then you would not have light on the sides. but beware the glass will reflect alot of light off so it will really brighten up the room.

i read that on reef central or nano-reef and saw where i guy took the top glass piece off. may consider that. it would be great if you could control the leds on these bulbs individually.

yep, been running strong for well over 3 years now, i ordered from a company called Nano Customs , they merged with another company so they technically dont exist anymore but my par38 bulb from them was alittle different then the eco-exotic, the nano customs drives their led alittle more so the output is a bit stronger, but that does make the bulb run alittle hot. I have an architect lamp with the dome removed with the bulb over the tank as far as possible (its REALLY easy to burn the sps if your not careful) do alittle searchin there's a thread of my set up somewhere :)

ok so its here the new ecoxotic par 38. its nice does give a red tint but defiantly makes the corals pop. also my clowns have became deer in headlights and are being weird. they are sitting next to a rock not moving (breathing only). they just freaked out?
