Cool tip CR! As far as cleaning metal with it, I think aluminum will be fine. With steel though the acidic properties of the vinigar may induce a rust factor. I have used acidic solutions (very mild muriatic\water) for cleaning steel "cement trowels" and they started rusting very quickly after. The trowels were made from stainless steel. Of course what ever metals that acid will harm, salt will also harm in the means of rust. Perhaps the 5%-7% acidity of vinigar may not be high enough to cause this. I'm not sure. I think that most equipment will be fine. As I think that steel parts are not used often with saltwater applications anyway. For example I have a hunch that vinigar might cause a rod-iron stand to rust where ever the paint has been chipped or scatched. Other items might be screws used to assemble lighting fixtures, hose clamps, non-aluminum reflectors or hoods. It would never be a good ideah to keep metal in constant contact with vinigar as eventually it would eat the metal.

Just my 2 cents on vinigar vs metal.
