Hello, I've recently Purchased a BioCube 29. I done Planted freshwater tanks for a few years and would like to give the Saltwater world a try! I came here seeking advice of what to help me get started before i make anymore purchase equipment.

I have been doing some research and already know to get rid of the bioballs, cause they are nitrate factory's.

So i look forward to the Saltwater world!

    Thanks, Dan

i would add a different pump propeller sytle to add flow from a different direction to create turbulence for the best flow

I have a 29gal too, if you up grade you will want to allow more flow to get back in or your tank will fill to high in the tank itself. Also Aquatic life 115 protein skimmer is an AMaZing buy, real cheap (60 bucks) and works wonders. After all this you will be happy but then you will want to upgrade the lights a bit, but thats a whole other can of worms.

I have the biocube 29...and have had it for a couple years now. It was my first tank!

I kept my bioballs....I still have them in there! There is a whole debate about bioballs, so wont get into that.

I would recommend not using the filter pads that come with it...they clog off way too easily. I have a nylon socking with carbon and place a filter pad...works much better IMO!

I have the aqualife skimmer on mine and a koralia 2. I think they work excellent. I have also taken the lid off and have attached a Current Solena light on it...but standard lighting is definately enough to keep many corals without any problem (soft and some LPS).

IMO it ran hot, so you will probably want to keep the lid open during the day to cool it off a bit. That is one of the main reasons I had eventaully taken off the lid..plus I wanted better gas exchange.

Like said go slow! Good luck and post pictures!
