Seano, I was looking at their site as well. For ATO, Id need one of those PM1, PM2 or PM3 OR, this, correct?

For pH you would need the PM1 anyway...it costs $75 on Marine Depot. I'm not sure what the IO Box is meant for?

They also have the Lunar Simulator for dawn/dusk effects...it follows the phases of the moon. I really want this. $90 on MD. :) Suggested 1 LED per foot of tank length.

Edit: yes you would need to IO box in order to run ATO/float switches.

Yeah, if I cant monitor pH, whats the point of having controller, right? LOL. Id go like this then:
    -Apex Jr controller $150
-PM1 $76 for pH and temp
    and somewhere down the road,
-VDM (Variable Dimming Module) $100 to control the LED and the lunar cycle if I want :)

I think it's great that you can keep adding stuff whenever you can/want later, instead of paying a big buck upfront.

Is ORP and Dissolved Oxygen monitor important? What are they really for?

Dissolved oxygen is basically the amount of usable oxygen which is available to livestock. It is somewhat important, but more commonly used when running a calcium reactor and/or (especially) dosing ozone into the reef tank. The ORP level is normally plenty when you don't does ozone and don't live 9,000 feet up in the rocky mountains. Increased altitude dramatically decreases dissolved oxygen in the water column.

I use it for basic functions right now. Display lights on/off, sump light opposite of display lights, heater. I use the last outlet for a crude ATO system. I bought a cheap pump at petsmart and have it run for 3 seconds once an hour into the sump. I'm scared to death of a cheap float valve/switch set up that could fail and flood. This keeps things more stable than my old fill up the return pump chamber every morning routine and is basically fail safe.

I'm looking into a SpectraPure ATO set up down the road.
