Has anyone bought the new Apex Jr from Neptune Systems? The $150 initial cost is really attractive for me.

Here is what I would like to have.
    -ATO function
    -Heater on/off function
    -Data log function
    -Web function
-Multiple (possibly 4) Meanwell ELN 60 48Ds control function (need an add-on?)

    What else?

I haven't bought it but I want it!! The only downside is that it doesn't come with a main unit with display to control your things. You have to have access to the internet in order to do it on a home network on your computer. For a lot of people this would mean a wireless bridge to connect it to a wireless router. So that is an extra piece of equipment that you would need to buy unless your tank is near an internet connection. still a nice price though! It doesn't have a lot of plugs either so a lot of people would have to add on if they wanted to control a lot of things.

Hey Lynn, I agree, but we have wi-fi in the household already and all I need is a gaming adapter, which could be found on eBay around $25~, to have the web function. Id rather use bigger display or iPod.

Those are all the basic things you would want for a controller to handles, and well it has it. Some people want a pH probe on their controller, but fortunately, the Apex jr. does not come with the port for a pH probe. you could always get a separate thing for pH if it was a big deal.

I really like the web function as well as data logging, and also being able to view it from my phone. The display modules with most Elite controllers is nice, but I really don't see myself playing around with it if I don't have to. If I can change settings with ease (like on the Jr) then i would be more likely to change settings if I wanted to.

I didn't get it yet, but I plan to get the Apex jr. when I have the extra cash to do so. I have a few other things I need to purchase first.

I've purchased it and had it set up for several days. So far it's great! It's very simple to set up and get working. I hard wired it to my router for the web capabilities. The interface is great and comes with basic wizards for lights, pump, heater and a few other things. Of course you can also use the advanced mode and set up the outlets however you would like. I recommend it!

Oh yeah, pH probe, but I need an add-on for that?

Nice, MrOcean! Did you get any add-on accessories? What do you use it for??

Not sure about add-on excessories. I'll have to check. I just know there isnt a port for it on the base module of the Apex jr.
