Learned alot in the past 2 hours :(

Well, I have learned alot in the past two hours, I have identified the one one that has tong tentacles to APTAISIA, so what I have done and am not happy about it.....removed it from my tank immediately and broke off 2 tiny pieces to salvage what I could of the polyps, but not much of them left sadly :(
but did not want to risk an infestation of aptaisia.....very upset about this, it was a nice piece of live rock with alot of polyps, but aptaisia growing right inbetween the polyps.

my question is now, is there any way to salvage the live rock once the aptaisia dies off?
right now it is sitting in a bucket.

to all the new saltwater hobbiests, let this be a lesson to ALWAYS, check and make sure you know what you are buying, save yourself some dissapointment.

one other change I have made, I traded my one and only tomato clown, for 2 baby tank bred perc clowns, and have put a deposit on a new 65 gallon tank, which I should have in a couple of weeks, but will set up over a few months.....

you can deal with Aiptasia in a number of different ways, and some of these would be a good idea to do outside of the DT in a bucket of tank water that you can throw away afterwards

commercial product - that is OK in main tank - but if you have removed rock to bucket of tank water , thats fine also
    Joes juice
    Aiptasia X

Both of these have good succes rates at killing Aiptasia and Majano nems

    other options
Kalk paste - mix some kalkwasser with tank water and make a mix thats like a slurry (TM McSlurry) spread this on the nems and it should kill them off ( IMO best done outside DT)

lemon Juice- hypodermic needle - inject into the mouth part - again best done outside of DT
    Vinegar - as above

    thanks

thanks, but I reacted quickly this morning, and yanked out the live rock and hammered off what I could, but I did not put the live rock in any water at all, just the bucket.
all I knew is that I wanted it out of my tank before it spread anywhere :(

    I guess live and learn...
