So I plan on getting a goldenhead sleeper goby for my tank. The LFS looks like he has tons of sick fish, ich, and rapidly breathing fish. So I am well aware that I need to take precautions when introducing a fish from this LFS.

The goby looks very healthy but is in a tank with not-so-healthy fish. The sand in his current tank is very fine, where-as mine is a little coarser. Mine is a mixture of argonite and coral sand.

So I plan on picking him up on Friday, this gives me a little time to prepare for him to come. What should my course of action be? I don't plan on quarentining him for that long because he is a sand-sifter, so I would rather give him a short freshwater dip and don't get any of the LFS water into my DT.

    How do I do that?

To start, I simply would not buy a fish from an LFS that has tons of sick fish. That sounds like unnecessary risk to me. So, first advise is to skip this fish.

If you insist on buying a fish from a known contaminated tank, I would definitely QT for a couple of weeks.

Agreed. Buying a fish from a situation like that is at best a gamble on the fish and at worst russian roulette with the other fish in your tank.
