New 180

The tank has been up and running for around a month now and I think I got most of the bugs worked out. its getting on the warm side with all 3 halides on (85 max) but so far nothing looks like its minding it.

I still have a bunch more fish I want to get, but taking it very slow this time around. My LFS has a pair of blue throat triggers I have had my eye on, and I really want to try a powder blue tang one more time.

Will, NIce looking 180. impressive for having it for a month. did you buy an established sysytem? also, I really love that EEL. have you had any issues out of him looking at yoru fish or inverts for dinner? how do you handle him feeding? I know my son wants one badly.

 

Tank looks great, I think that is a good idea with the fish taking it slow. Should allow you to react to parameter changes better.

this is the product of 4 big trades, I traded a laptop I had for a 90 gallon setup (got the laptop through another trade), then I traded a really nice 25 nano setup for this 180. the 180 came with a bunch of rock, corals and fish, and I transferred over everything I liked from the 90, then parted out the 90 and put the majority of the cash back into the 180.

the eel has been a model citizen so far, he only eats squid, raw cocktail shrimp, and clam strips.

oooh yeah, i just use wooden skewer sticks for feedings. these guys have rounded teeth for crushing (I think urchins are a primary food source in the wild) unlike most eels with sharp teeth for grabbing fish, but I still like to be on the safe side. I had to attach most of my frags with water weld because he does get a little clumsy at feeding time.

HAHA! yea, with one that size, I would think it would be clumsy. I had a snowflake years ago in a fish only tank. ill have to read up on them cause that would be an awesome thing to have in a tank. maybe just a smalll one though.

 

Nice looking setup. I can't wait to upgrade so I can get a purple tang. ;D

 

That purple tang is really pretty, but really aggressive and ballsy as hell . . . he has no problems going up to the 3' + eel and putting him back in his hole. Cant wait to see the reaction when I add in a pair of bluethroats and maybe another tang.

some fish just think they're the king of the tank, im sure with another tang and two blue throat trigger's its gonna be a big battle ha ha thats one goood looking tank you have for it only being up for a month. congrats my friend
