New 14g Biocube Dartfish/frag tank..

this tank house my new frag stand and my 4 diff species of dartfish..purple, red, zebra bar (newest baby), and a scissortail dartfish..enjoy and post please..

 

i thought that dartfish will attack each other if kept in a small tank

I have read this rumor of dartfish attacking eachother.this is nonsense..they are the most peaceful of all the fish i have ever raised..the purple and red stick like glue..and the scissortail and zebra stay together also..i commonly see 50 or more house togther at LFS..and no frags yet..just got a warrantied hood..i had a blown balast..thanks

I like tanks with dart fish as the focus. I kept a trio in my 28 gallon, they were all very peaceful. The alpha fish did seem to be able to dominate the other two with subtle body language, but no outward physical aggression like you see with clowns, dotty backs and such.

I think they are less shy and nervous when housed other dart fish or passive fish like royal gramma.

The set up looks very nice.

 

Thank u..the large purple one shows dominant behavior.but no biting..he is the largest purple ive ever seen..iam debating taking the fragstand out and adding live rock..idk

 

I disagree with it being a rumor. I have tried on multiple occasions on different tanks to keep more than one dartfish at the same time. The longest I kept more than one dartfish in a 75 was 2 months. One of them started looking like it was getting beaten up while the other was immaculate. Shortly after, it died. The remaining dartfish was in my tank for another year after that with now signs of being attacked. leaves me to assume it was the 2nd dartfish.

 

Sorry to hear about yourdartfish..each individual fish has its own personality..i recently had to give the LFS a small cleaner wrasse i had for about three weeks..he picked on a baby purple dartfish..that purple one shares a burrough with a red dartfish successfully for about 3 mnths now..not this tank..my other one..u can see the wrasse in pics if u look close..but normally a very peaceful fish..i have had thre dartfish in this tank for 2 yrs..and the scissortail and the red one have been together for longer than that..they are schooling fish.and generally enjoy company of their own species..all mine are different variations..and ive never tried two of the same..like two red ones..so idk..what has been everyone else's experience??
