yeah, when your ammonia goes to 0 then your nitrite will increse, when that goes to 0 then your tank is done..

anytime you have cured live rock(thats been in an established) tank that has set out for 3 hours is gonna have die off..'

get some bacteria in their and dont do any waterchanges or it will extend the cycle time

I would do a wc do bring down the nitrates and ammonia asap. You can also use something like prime to detoxify the ammonia. Most of your biological bacteria is going to be living in your live rock and sand, theres very little nitrification bacteria thats free floating in your water column. Also, if you have signs of ich just starting, being either FW and/or medicated dips asap, and get some anti-parasitic foods or start dosing your current foods heavily with a vitamin and garlic supplement(s).

Generally, it can take 4-6 weeks for everything to stabilize.

for ich, as long as your fish are eating usually they will bounce back...but like last guy said, soaking foods in garlic helps with ich..

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
Gotta do the water change IMO. If you have animals in the tank and an elevated ammonia and nitrite level for the sake of the fish and inverts you should do a water change. I myself do not believe it prolongs the cycle, the fish are producing ammonia and being feed that is more than enough to keep the cycle on course.
