Wanted to try having both a DSB and the use of Fiji Mud in a low flow fuge environment. So I've lined one of those "Cricket Cages" with roughly 2" of Fiji Mud & a piece of LR on top of the mud to weight down the cricket cage --- then outside I filled the tank with 4-5"? Once the system is up and running for a while just probably throw in some Nassi snails [6-8] and call it a day. What do you all think? Comments or suggestions would be nice, I had posted this in the Refugium section but it did not receive the much views.

Main question is will this DSB and miracle mud actually be beneficial to the display tank, I hope so.

And how long should I wait for the sand cloudiness to settle before activating the fuge and letting her rip into the DT 8)

Brand new fuge with pump in "cricket cage". Will probably look into upgrading lights so I can keep my leathers down in the fuge(will use Biocube stock light fixture)

For your viewing pleasure 8) (recent additions of blue sympodium frags and tiger cowrie snail)

    Thanks everyone for looking

That's awesome. How did you fit a 10g tank in the stand? My stand is 19x19" and won't fit one.

i think mine is 21" wide so i have about .5" gap on each side and about 2" on the top, it gets pretty hot down there, not sure weather to leave a lid on the 10g or just let the cabinet closed serve as my lid.

also wonder if i should add a desk fan behind the whole tank (there is a small space for a clip on fan)

water temp was at 84 when i got home from work so i threw in some ice cubes and opened all the access doors. i may just need to tweek my heater or definitely look into getting a fan - the lights seem to get really hot.

would i even need a heater if i'm running the lights 5 hours during the night while my other lights are off? this should also counter ph swings

Wait?! Your tank is idle at 84 deg?! Do you have a bad heater?

keep the heater to prevent swings, but ya need to figure out how to cool it down! create a vent or add a fan!

Could it be his pump working its tail off pushing water up from the sump?

no actually i just found one of your old threads about high temps. it's honestly the lights i have running over top the fuge, they are getting no air flow and all the cabinet doors are shut, meaning it's nearly a completely exposed space

That looks like a 100 watt bulb at max, that can't make your water 85 deg. You have something else going on. I touch the pump and feel if its hot...
