Well as the title said when I had a multi day power outage I moved the nem to my fuge. I haven't connected it to the DT because the toxins killed off all the pods (though my daughter did say she saw one alive).

I did loose some of the macro in the fuge but am uncertain if that is due to the power outage or the nem.....my guess is the former.

I'm also guessing that the macro can absorb/break down the toxins released by the nem.

How long should I wait to connect the fuge up up to the DT?

I would do a couple large water changes plus run the fuge water through some carbon for a couple days just to be safe. Then test for all the nasties you are able to before putting it back on line.

you could take the water out of the fuge and replace it cant you?
im not sure if that would solve the problem though... hopefully someone else chimes in.
    so this is a bump.

without more details, I'm wondering why you don't just dump the fuge, put any remaining macro algae in the DT, and refill the fuge and start it fresh...

Don't understand why you care to 'clean' the fuges toxin tainted water...

Agreed with this. Although, if you're going to clean the water, carbon is your friend, not macroalgaes.

Yeah I did the water change....forgot to put the carbon in the though...just too much gong on I guess it's been a week since just wanted to be safe....maybe do a 2nd bigger WC as the 1st wasn't that big

Power was back on Fri. July 30th but had very little water on hand to do W/C. And that Sat. I had to go and visit my sis in the hospital as she was very sick and nearly died during her c-section earlier that week and still had a massive infection going on.

Unfortunately the LFS that has water is only open Sat. not Sun. (which I forgot when I visited my sis first and ended up staying half the day)

The LFS only had 7 gal worth of water, and the other tanks needed WC too (they just got top offs) when I went and they are closed b4 I get home on weekdays. So has not been fun.....next equipment purchase WILL be a RO/DI unit....am tired of the LFS not having water when I need it.

As stated I did forget to run the carbon in the fuge the other tanks got it though.

I'm just happy I scooped the nem out of the nano before it died, I put it in the fuge in case it managed to pull through.

Yup and as there was only one snail in there anyway, no CUC died.....so will be hooking up the fuge this weekend. Yay!
