I just got my apex on Thursday. I have read the Unofficial user manual multiple times and am still having issues. I keep having issues with the port forwarding. I setup an account with DynDNS and installed the software to my computer. I am having issues setting up the remote access software as well as port forwarding.

I think I may have downloaded the wrong software. I think I needed to download DynDNS Updater, but installed a different program that DynDNS had said I needed.

I feel that my port forwarding issue is due to having the wrong software downloaded.

I do have the apex set up to send emails to me and my cell phone.

Thank you in advance for any help.

    is this the correct updater:

My initial advice is to not use the software until the port forwarding is working by itself.

Go into DynDNS. Click My Services / My Hosts. This should bring up your host name you chose. It should bring up a setup screen for your host.

    Hostname:
    jonjonwellsapex.dyndns-free.com
    Wildcard:
    only for DynDNS Pro users
    create "*.jonjonwellsapex.dyndns-free.com" alias
(for example to use same settings for www.jonjonwellsapex.dyndns-free.com)

    Service Type:
    Host with IP address
    WebHop Redirect (URL forwarding service)
    Offline Hostname

    IP Address:

Your current location's IP address is 70.245.162.84

Where is says your current IP.... it should match the IP above it. If not, click on the IP to update it. Save and exit.

Check your connection then. It is possible your router is not letting the port through.

Did you use OpenVPN as well? What programs do I need on my computer to make this work?

I think I got the port forwarding to work. I have the DynDNS updater installed and can actually setup my router to not change the info for the DynDNS stuff. Should I use both the program and the router or just one?

How do I check my connection?

For reference: I am using a static IP from my service provider. The software is not needed in my case.

What kind of router do you have brand and model?
