    That could be it...my powerheads keep my tank rather toasty. That said, if turn your heater up a little bit, 27 degrees C wouldn't necessarily be the end of the world as long as you weren't running any really finicky livestock. I've always heard that it's the fluctuations in temperature that'll get you. My tank stays right around 26-27 C and it doesn't seem to bother any of my inhabitants.
