ok, i came across a 75 drilled with corner overflow, with sump, light and a ton of goodies off craigslist. started at %500 im getting for $150!!!!

now, i have to break down my tank and the new one, move the new one. im not taking his live rock as i dont need it or want it. im getting the tank, light, sump, pumps, skimmmer, hood and other assorted goodies..

so, i know to get a couple new garbage cans to put my rock and water in.
    questions i have,

    1. how long can the sand in new tank stay "live"? can it be not in water for say a couple hours while i move tank, then get it wet?
will water need to circulate to keep it alive?

2.same question for sump. i want to keep the chaeto and sand he has in it, cuz its loaded with pods.. will it need to circulate and have a heater?
can this stuff live for say a week?

i hate to lose the live sand, and i dont want to cycle a tank. if i have to lose his sand, i will, but i have black sand in my tank and i hate it, always looks crappy, cuz the white pieces fall off the live rock, dietrius and the such. looked great for awhile, but not so much now.

any other things i need to know, please tell me, as it is my first tank move.

    thanks

Why are you breaking yours down first? Why not keep it up and running, add his livestock to your tank, move his tank and get it set up and running, then transfer your rock livestock etc! Also, are you sure you want to use his sand? Is it a DSB? If so disturbing it may cause some issues! I'd get rid of his tank sand, buy dry sand and use a few cups to seed it!
