Its that time again to replace my 175 watt halide bulbs..I usually run Plus rite bulbs(I get ok growth)...But I would like to try something new..im looking for something 10-14k .a little on the blue side works also..but a 10k crisp white would work as I have 12 cree royal blue leds as supplementation and could add more if need to off set the white/yellow look of a 10k...Please tell what you guys/gals think are good bulbs...Oh im running electronic ballast single end mogal socket..and have a mixed reef...TIA

Ushio is also supposed to be a good brand, as well as Hamilton. If you go with Ushio though - their 20,000k is what actually looks like the normal 14000k.

This image is under a Phoenix 14k DE.

My avatar is under a Radium 20k, but Radium does not offer a 14k that I know of.

Phoenix is much bluer, Radium more crisp white. No flash was used for either shot.

The Iwasaki 15,000K is the best bulb you can pick at 175 watt. Especially if you are looking for a bulb that is crisp white (no yellow at all). The PAR output is unparalleled and if you have suplemental blues, this will look awesome. The PAR output of the Phoenix, keep in mind that I love the phoenix bulbs, is nearly half that of the Iwasaki. I have long described this MH as the bulb that should be compared to the LED units on the market. Lumen output is 8500 lm. That is huge at 175 watts. Nearly that of many of the best 250 watt MH bulbs.
