I started dosing kalkwasser two days ago, and I am using the ATO method. The kalkwasser rodi water I'm adding to my ATO reservoir is just the top water and not the gunk at the bottom after mixing. Here's my question, I have a reef keeper lite that I have setup to set off an alarm and turn off my ATO if the PH goes above 8.5. I noticed today when my ATO kicked on, it raised the PH level in my sump very quickly, and then slowly dropped again after the ATO shut off. the rapidly increase in PH triggered the alarm and shut off the ATO. I noticed the PH sensor was by the tube where the kalk is going in the sump, if I move this sensor, will this happen again. Also should I set the High PH alarm to a higher amount, like 9.25? How long does it take to raise the PH to a good level?

I would certainly move the probe away from where the Kalkwasser is being dripped into the sump area, Texanjordan

your monitor is reacting to the localised PH increase, rather than the PH increase in general, which is what you want you alarm to do
once the kalk has been mixed with the main volume of water going through your system the increase in PH depending on how much is added at any given time by the ATO will be minimal

so have your probe somewhere after the Kalkwasser has been better distributed through your water
