is micro and phytoplankton the same thing. I was told that is was by the sales rep. of one of our local fish stores. I have a green sinularia and a toadstool/leather. From my readings, these particular guys need micro. In addition, some places that sell supplements don't even know what Im talking about when asking for microplankton.

Need any and all adive please thaink you

IME..They will just benefit from them..They dont need them really to survive..It will most likely increase their growth rate as most corals benefit from feeding will do the same. Leathers grow fast without feeding though, so i wouldnt bother really..Just my 2 cents.

Very few corals ingest phytoplankton. Almost all are meat-eaters so to feed them, you need zooplankton. Microplankton is merely a definition of the size of the zooplankton. You could feed both of those coral foods (reef chili, coral frenzy, golden pearls, rotifers, cyclopeeze, Zoplan, etc) that are zooplankton-based.

Now, phytoplankton will also benefit them INDIRECTLY if you have filter feeders that spawn as a result of being healthy. The corals will eat their eggs and gametes. BTW, those corals won't eat microphytoplankton either. All phyto whether it has the word "micro" in front of it, is still algae and not meat.
