    29gal biocube

Unclejed- thanks for the link. Right now, a lfs has the 29gal biocube tank for 239.99. That's the cheapest price I have seen anywhere.

    Oceanic BioCube - 29 Gallon - Sale - Fish - PetSmart

Fish-aholic94- Point taken about using the biocube/all in one tank styles. I have heard that reasoning before and should heed the warning. Biocubes are interesting and it seems people have some success with them. But, you're right- using a standard 30gal reef tank with add-ons instead of the self-contained systems can prove more successful in the long run.

Too many choices and opinions makes it a difficult decision. :-/

More reading and surfing. I appreciate everyone's input. It helps!

    29 gal Oceanic

Hi, I have a 29g Oceanic nano and I am using the built in filter system. I have only had it a couple of months, what problems am I likely to experience using the built in system?
Right now I am very happy with it, new to the hobby and trying to learn all I can.

I set up my pico about three months ago.
I have a Coralife PC light with two 50/50 10k/actinic bulbs. 18 watts each.
I have a diy auto top off and it helps immensely.
Weekly waterchanges, not big ones, but it helps.
I am running a filter for a ten gallon and the palm filter that came with the tank.
I soon will try to set up a sump, probably just a 5 gallon. Not totally sure yet.

Dosing really helps everything. Here is a pic of what I dose and my diy auto top off.

But if you don’t upgrade, and if the tank never breaks, I don’t see any problems, other than what you would have with a regular tank.

It all boils down to; "6 of one, half dozen of another". It is whatever you want and anticipate. If you want to keep an anemone and some hard coral the all in one may not be best or you will have to remove the top and modify. Some, myself included, like the seamless, rounded shape so may want to modify. I personally am keeping soft coral so the all in one is fine.

Why would I need to modify for anenome? I thought I would just have to add an extra pump for circulation?

The stock lights are Power Compacts. Anemone should have T5 or better.
