    Almost looks like a Stone Crab. Whatever crab it is, id it before putting it back in your tank. BTW, thanks for the video, it helps a lot.

    Still looking for a ID on this Hitchhiker... Have him hostage in a small tank till i find out if he is reef friendly etc.

    I hear if they have pointed claws they are not reef safe. If the claws are rounded they are algae clippers and reef safe I am not fond of any crabs. I have small bubble algae and bought two emerald crabs and now I have 2 crabs and still have bubble algae. They have been here a few weeks now so it should be at least part way cleared up.. good luck on the id

    +1 if he has sharp claws I wouldn't risk it. Hard to tell what kind he is. Maybe a gorilla crab?

    Goodmorning Goodsell... Yeah the gorilla crab does look alot like this little guy thanks for that! He might just be a gorilla crab however his claws do not look as pointed. Hmmm:-/ +k

    Well as they say here on 3reef "When in doubt take it out." I think its better to be safe than sorry. There are so many different types of crabs, and a lot of them can be real bad news.

    I don't know if you already ruled it out, but the name "stone crab" strikes fear into my heart. I knew a guy that put a small one in his tank from the gulf. It rearranged all of his rock work and killed every one of his fish that was less than a few inches in length.
