    I'm thinking of going rimless too... What are some pros and cons for a rimless and what thickness of glass/acrylic would I need to get also what would be best glass? acrylic?

    I have never owned a rimless tank but I definitely like the look of them. The only drawbacks for it as far as I can tell would be most SW fish are jumpers and since you would need some type of cover(most of us use screen frame with plastic mesh screening) it kinda defeats the asthetic of having a rimless tank.Also they probably aren't as strong as a normal tank but that is pure speculation on my part.;)

    So do you have any other info on this setup? It is not really making sense. The overflow box in a Herbie is used for regulation. It has a self regulating effect as the water rises ofr falls in the box. There will be no self regulation in this arrangement and the valve will have to be set exactly correct. Using the DT for the same purpose would work but then varies the DT level.

    There should be no holes drilled in the top of any pipe. It is a fully submerged water tight overflow. Air is noise.

    Last I see two drains... I'm assuming the bar is common with drains on both sides... if they are split then they need to be tied together before the regulating valve. Unles the bar is one drain and the other is the emergency. You do have an emergency correct... two drains going to the sump?
