I have a mysterious disappearance, no body, but a couple of suspects.

I bought a small coral beauty last Tuesday. She was somewhat shy, but seemed to settle right in, coming to the front of the tank at feeding time and eating both flake food and brine shrimp. I didn't recall seeing her the following Tuesday, but she'd sometimes hang out in the back, behind the rocks. Wednesday night at feeding time, it hit me "Where's the Beauty?"

Ultimately, I moved almost everything in the tank and only turned up a small (1/4 inch) blob of gunk that may have been her head.
I can only guess that she quietly died and that her tankmates disposed of her remains -- the banded coral shrimp is #1 on the list of suspects, and the orchid dottyback and the hermit crabs are tied for #2.

Anyone else have a "mysterious disappearance" story to tell? How about one with a happy ending?

My cleaner Wrasse disapeared for a few days then I found him hanging out in a tiny hole in the live rock, then he disapeared again like a week later and I havent seen him in over a month.:( I also just bought a small Blue Tang that has been missing for two days now :( . I really liked him too, Im thinking perhaps one of the bigger damsels harassed him a bit too much.

I always worried about fish killing shrimp ... didn't know a coral banded or hermits could kill a fish..maybe they were taking advantage of a easy meal?

I just got a sixline wrasse a few days ago. Saw him out and about for a couple days, then added the yellow tang, and haven't seen him since. We'll see what happens.
