    Hello,
I did my research and found a old thread about that but no answer was spoken about why to my tang behave that way.

I bought him for my birthday in september my tank has been running since February 2010.
He just started 2 days ago, He comes to the glass start twictching and then appears to tap is tail on the glass and then takes off swimming fast like something spook him, he seems to breath heavy a little but don't know if it's because of the fast swimming.

Does not rub against rock, eat well, looks good. What is he doing? Or should I be concern?

Never had ich in my tank

    I am very worried
    Help

I think he's being aggressive towards his reflection. Clean the glass better than normal lately? Change lighting in the room around the tank?

the other possibility is , that the Tang is displaying his territory to you!

I have a bananna wrasse that flashes the front glass, but only when I approach the tank
I had a Radient wrasse who exhibited the same behaviour previously

you see that tail of his. it contains a very sharp bone that the tang can stick out. It uses it as its primary weapon.

it either hates you or its reflection.(ok animals don't really hate, its just trying to injury someone or thing enough that it never encounters it again).

+1. I just cleaned the side glass on my tank that had been covered in algae and my yellow tang started going after his reflection. Nothing to worry about, and he'll probably stop in the next few days once he gets use to the "new tang".

As the season changes, so does the degree of light hitting the tank.
