Wow. So where should I place the fan? It is not a clip-on and is too large to put on the shelf above the tank. It is a closed tank, right now the lid is open. Only thing close to the tank is a folding table, at 30", the same height as the top of the aquarium base.

that's a start...anyway you can get the fan closer to the water surface the better. and definately keep the top open, regardless of where the fan is at.

this is very similar to what I use..only about 5" tall and fits on the corner of my tank (its Euro-braced).

FYI-evaporative cooling causes lots of water loss so hopefully you have an auto-top off system hooked up to keep your water level constant

Ugh. I hate hot and really cold weather. Why can't I just have a happy medium? lol. Got home and my tank temp. lowered...lowered down to 78. :( I know this isn't too bad, but as I am trying to keep it at 80, it is a quite a bit of fluctuation from 81/82 - 78. This was just overnight. The fan helped too much when I had it aiming at the water.

I think what I need is fan(as someone else already mentioned) that will turn on when my temp is too high. Then turn off when water is at desired temp.

Thanks everyone! Well my dad ended up getting his paycheck early so we went out to Lowe's today and spent some money a window a/c unit. :) Tank is all good at 80.2 degrees.
